thanks to CA Conrad for including me in this experiment, and thank you to all of the poets for sharing their work. reading pleasure!

my event for 9 poets 9 cities occurred as part of toronto's 2nd annual nuit blanche, an all-night artstravaganza that saw a record turn-out city-wide and gave our public transit system some stress. i performed in a local community centre that was decked out in the spirit of a street festival. dancers, actors, musicians, mind-readers, and other esoterics filled the space.

nuit blanche was quite intense, a mixture of halloween for artists and an endurance test personally, as i performed on and off from 8:30pm to 7am.
for my incantations of 9 poets 9 cities, there was a fluid, roving audience -- novel given a standard poetry reading's predisposition towards audience as seatbound and mostly silent. the nuit blanche audience came and went, asked questions, murmured amongst themselves.

i shared texts from all poets, and used a computer projector to project the poems onto a wall of sheets strung up in the basement of the community centre. this gave passersby an opportunity to tune into what i read aloud, or to read poems and bios for themselves. i was fascinated to see how the poems in the condensed anthology interacted with each other when they shared the same space.
